Creating Your First Server

Step-by-step guide to deploying your first game server.

Prerequisites

Before creating a server, ensure you have:

  1. ✅ Created a cluster
  2. ✅ Registered a machine with the agent installed
  3. ✅ Machine is online and connected

Steps

1. Navigate to Servers

From your cluster dashboard:

  • Click Servers in the sidebar
  • Click Create Server button

2. Select Game

Choose the game you want to host:

  • ARK: Survival Evolved/Ascended
  • Minecraft (Java/Bedrock)
  • Rust
  • Valheim
  • Palworld
  • And more...

3. Select Machine

Pick the machine where the server will run:

  • View available resources (CPU, RAM, disk)
  • Consider geographic location for latency
  • Check existing server load

4. Configure Server

Fill in basic settings:

Server Name

ARK-Island-PvP

Port (auto-assigned or custom)

27015

Max Players

50

Game-Specific Settings Each game has unique configuration options.

5. Resource Allocation

Set resource limits:

  • CPU Cores: 2-4 recommended
  • Memory: 4-16 GB depending on game
  • Disk: Varies by game size

6. Create Server

Click Create Server to begin installation.

Installation Process

The agent will:

  1. Download - Fetch game files via SteamCMD
  2. Configure - Apply your settings
  3. Start - Launch the server process

This takes 5-30 minutes depending on game size.

Monitoring Installation

Watch real-time progress:

  • Installation logs streamed to dashboard
  • Progress percentage shown
  • Estimated time remaining

First Start

Once installed:

  1. Server starts automatically
  2. Wait for "Online" status
  3. Check server console for startup messages
  4. Players can now connect!

Connecting to Your Server

Finding Connection Info

In server details:

  • IP Address: Public IP of machine
  • Port: Server port
  • Password: If set

Example Connection Strings

ARK:

steam://connect/123.45.67.89:27015

Minecraft:

123.45.67.89:25565

Rust:

client.connect 123.45.67.89:28015

Troubleshooting

Server Stuck Installing

  • Check machine disk space
  • Verify internet connection
  • Review installation logs

Server Won't Start

  • Check port not in use
  • Verify sufficient RAM allocated
  • Review startup logs

Can't Connect

  • Verify firewall rules allow port
  • Check server status is "Online"
  • Confirm correct IP and port
